Abstract
If the velocity of flight U0 is low compared to the velocity of sound in the medium, then the medium in which the body moves can be assumed to be incompressible. This is because compressibility has practically no effect when the disturbance p’ of the pressure generated by the motion of the body is very small compared to the pressure p∞ in the undisturbed medium:
