Abstract

We have traveled a long way—from Africa, to the Middle East, to Europe, to Asia and back again to North America. We have looked at the world as it was from 4000 B.C. to the present, and no matter where we have looked during our journey of 6000 years we have seen evidence of human violence toward children. It is written on papyri recovered from the tombs of ancient Egypt, in the Bible, carved on tombstones, and now is printed in the daily newspaper that is thrown each morning on our front steps. We are still killing and abusing our children. We are still devaluing family life. And today, in almost 2000 A.D., we are still denigrating women in our cultures.
