Abstract

We sail the magnificent Nile today and with a minimum of imagination feel as if we have sailed into ancient history. Along the river’s banks, where the lush farmlands reach out to the desert, we see scarcely clothed children playing, as their mothers beat laundry against the rocks. The peasant farmers, or fellahin, are irrigating their land with equipment that was invented around the time King Zoser was building the first pyramid, the pyramid of Sakkara, approximately 2650 B.C.

Hold your tongue in front of your neighbors. One gives esteem to the one who knows how to be silent.
