Abstract
The more formal sessions of the NATO Advanced Study Institute on Ionospheric Radio Communications in the Arctic that have occupied us throughout the past week are now almost completed. Following this summing-up session, we will return to our homes and each of us will try to assess the essentials of this meeting and to plan and set in motion future activities concerning Arctic Communications. It is, of course, not possible now to say what most of these activities will be, but as a first step toward their formulation we will try to summarize the main points of significance that have arisen during the preceding sessions. Each participant will likely have his own opinion as to what were the highlights of the Study Institute; here this author can only present his own biased viewpoint which, hopefully, includes a majority of the main essentials and is not too cursory or oversimplified.
