Recent Development of the AMDP-System

Abstract

The official history of the German-language ‘Association for Documentation in Psychiatry’ (AMDP) is marked by the year 1969 and the year 1979. In 1969, the AMP-manual was edited for AMP, and in 1979, the extensive revision was completed by the edition of the AMDP-revision. The AMP-system has been evaluated in numerous empirical studies, which were mainly publicized during the seventies and early eighties. A few studies concerning the AMDP-system have been conducted to date. In “Test-Manual für das AMDP-System-Empirische Studien zur Psychopathologie” (1983) the extensive data have been presented in a comprehensive manner. The aboundance of results is not only of importance for AMDP, but represents a significant contribution to the empirical research of psychopathology. The development of the AMDP-system has found a tentative termination, due to the revised AMDP-system manual (AMDP, 1981), which contains the definitions of symptoms in particular and the recently published test-manual (Testmanual AMDP, 1983), which presents the empirical findings.
