What to expect from complementary healthcare
People who are considering complementary healthcare often ask: ‘Does it work?’ On the other hand, those who have already tried a complementary therapy are often keen to tell you whether or not it ‘worked’ for them. What is obvious, but apparently tends to be overlooked, is that you can only say whether something works if you have a clear idea of what happens when it does so. Does the TV work? Yes, it gives a clear picture. Does the car work? No, the engine isn’t turning over. Does the sphygmomanometer work? It is clear you have to know what a sphygmomanometer does before you could answer that question.
