Abstract

At a recent Alzheimer’s disease conference in the USA I was commenting that, in certain developing countries visited, there appeared to be no clear comprehension on the part of some physicians and nurses — to say nothing of family carers — of the various causes and probable courses of what is often termed confusion or ‘dementia’ or mental deterioration with ageing. I was astonished when my North American counterpart replied, ‘You could say that of quite a few physicians and nurses here in the States’.
