Quantum-Mechanical Corrections to Transport Cross-Sections for Hard Spheres

We present a derivation of the classical and first quantum-mechanical correction terms a high-energy expansion for the transport cross-section Q(1) This complements a similar calculation of one of us (S.L.) for the viscosity cross-section Q(2) . In both cases, the first correction is found to be propo Tonal to 1/(kσ) 4/3, which is a term non-analytic in h (i.e., h4/3).
