Solid Friction on Lattice and Spin Modulations
Part of the NATO ASI Series book series (NSSB, volume 155)
In many cases, lattice or spin modulations show a hyster-etic motion. The possible origins of the solid friction responsible for this behaviour are two-folds:
lattice friction on weakly commensurate modulations.
friction due to lattice defects on uncommensurate modulations.
