Abstract

In addition to the relatively standard techniques that have been discussed in the preceding chapters, there are a number of techniques that are special, in that they apply to (or, are applied to) images of non-ideal specimens, or to non-ideal images of specimens, or are simply still somewhat experimental. A few of these, which the routine user of stereological methods may have occasional need to employ, will be introduced here. Also, methods which are not strictly stereological but are nonetheless concerned with the determination of three-dimensional information from images are presented.
