Abstract
A successful experiment carried out between 1970 and 1975 showed clearly that people in advanced years, even while living in long-term wards in elderly patient departments of hospitals, welcome the opportunity to learn something new. Awakened interest developed, and concentration improved, particularly when a suitable room was set aside away from the wards — creating a space for quiet and study for the introduction of the subject.
