Abstract

Otolaryngology is primarily involved with diagnosis and treatment of diseases involving the mucosal structures of upper air and food passages, adnexal organs such as salivary glands, deep visceral cervical structures such as lymph nodes and the thyroid gland, as well as the cartilaginous and bony structures of the skull and larynx which support the soft tissue organs and enclose the mucosal-surfaced air spaces.
