Discovery of the Expanding Universe

  • Barry Parker

The story of creation begins with the discovery of the expansion of the universe. Looking at this expansion today we see that it does not involve our sun, our solar system, or even our galaxy, the Milky Way. None of them are expanding. It involves only the space between the galaxies. As we look at the billions of galactic systems beyond the Milky Way that dot the universe we see that each of them is racing away from us. Does this make us special? No, for upon closer examination we find that they are not just racing away from us; they are racing away from each other. It is the space between the galaxies that is expanding.
