Abstract
This chapter opens with a discussion about those staff who are involved in teaching and monitoring students in the practical parts of their pre-registration course. Consideration is given to the particular needs of adult learners. There is a section on styles of teaching and learning and how these may affect the relationship between the teacher and the learner. The chapter ends with a consideration of a number of other factors which may affect teaching and learning in clinical settings; there is particular emphasis on interpersonal communication between the student and clinical teacher.
