Abstract

In this book we have aimed to present the reader with some of the more important, newer ideas about the treatment, service structure and measurement of outcome following traumatic brain injury. We are all aware of the wide variation in provision and practice across Europe, but believe that, although treatment innovations in well-resourced countries may seem inappropriate, at least in the short term, for less well-resourced countries they may yet offer a basis for development and experimentation. Similarly, ideas for service delivery, arising from economic necessity, may offer the potential for widespread utilization.
