Geochemical Behavior of Elements in the Lithosphere

Abstract

An original conception of the evolution of the crustal composition is discussed. It is based on results of studies of Precambrian rocks in central Africa and the Guianas, and also studies of the chemical compositions of igneous rocks from other parts of the world. It is shown that the primary material of igneous rocks was similar to peridotite but changed gradually by introduction of leucocratic elements. Further development of the problem by means of mathematical methods is recommended.
