Abstract
A systematic theory of superconductivity, which explained the nature of this phenomenon, was formulated in 1957 by Bardeen, Cooper, and Schrieffer (BCS theory). The mystery of superconductivity was solved, and the formulation of the theory brought further progress in the field. In this section and the next, we will discuss the basic principles of this theory.
