The Multiple Metal-Metal Bond: Twenty-Five Years of Synthetic Serendipity and Structural Discovery

  • Chapter
Metal-Metal Bonds and Clusters in Chemistry and Catalysis

Abstract

The development of the field of multiple bond chemistry had as its genesis the studies in the early 1960’s by Cotton and co-workers that established the existence of salts of the {[ReX4]}n anions (X = Cl or Br) that differed in nuclearity (n = 2 or 3).1,2
