Dynamics of Surface Bound Polymers and Coupling Agents

  • Chapter
Solid State NMR of Polymers

Abstract

Composite materials have mechanical properties which depend not only upon the properties of each of their components, but also upon the details of the interactions between the components. These interactions take place at the interfacial region. In order to further our understanding of the macroscopic properties, it is necessary to expand our knowledge of the interface at the microscopic level. It is hoped that information about the molecular motion of the surface-adsorbed species in the interfacial region will some day aid in the development of new composite materials and in the understanding of their properties.
