Abstract
In recent years much attention has been focused on the immune system. Remarkable advances have been made in our understanding of the mechanism of action and the control of immune responses. Basic research in immunology is proceeding so rapidly that it is difficult for even the most dedicated student to keep up to date with all of the developments in the field. Coincident with this burgeoning knowledge has been an increased concern about the possible health effects of pollution.
