Spin Label Study of Molecular Aggregates

The distribution of amphiphilic molecules between membrane and buffer solutions, containing the amphiphile aggregates, is described by a simple model. The phenomenological relations describing the partitioning were derived and compared with the electron paramagnetic resonance measurements of the bovine erythrocyte-spin labeled methyl ester of the palmitic acid system. The apparent variation of the partition coefficient with the amphiphile concentration is explained.
