Abstract
Item bias studies investigate whether different ethnic, racial or cultural groups show different response behaviour to test items. Reviews of item bias methods have been given by Jensen (1980, chap. 9), Petersen (1977), and Rudner, Getson and Knight (1980). A distinction will be made between unconditional and conditional methods. In this paper the emphasis is on conditional methods.
