Quinone Dyes

  • Chapter
Infrared Absorbing Dyes

Part of the book series: Topics in Applied Chemistry ((TAPP))

Abstract

Dyes based on the quinone chromophore are widely used in the modern dyestuff industry, and a wide range of colorants have been commercialized. The chemistry of quinone dyes was reviewed thoroughly by Venkataraman1 in 1971. Gordon and Gregory2 also reviewed advances in anthraquinone dye chemistry in 1983, but they did not describe the infrared absorbing quinone dyes.
