Influence of Surfactants on the Transport Behavior of Electrolytes Through Synthetic Membranes

  • Chapter
Membranes and Membrane Processes

Abstract

Soon after the hyperfiltration of saline feed became a feasible process for the production of fresh water, in addition to the investigation of the permeation of salts through membranes also the behavior of surfactants in this separation process likewise claimed basic interest. The goal of investigation of these substances can be split into two parts. On one hand the degree of rejection of the surfactants using various types of membranes is the object of the experiments. On the other hand the mutual influence between surfactants and other feed ingredients on the permeation through the membrane was placed in the forefront.
