Abstract
My feelings about writing this essay on my life with Parkinson’s disease are mixed. On the one hand I am afraid that there is nothing especially important or unique in what I have experienced. On the other hand, I feel some enthusiasm in using this opportunity to review my situation, perhaps because of a feeling that in so doing I might discover something about myself.
Dr. Donald Hackel is a 65-year-old professor of pathology at Duke University who is active in teaching and research. His major interest is in cardiovascular disease.
