Abstract
I met my first female sexual offender in May 1985. Probation officers in Hennepin and Ramsey Counties, Minnesota, were looking for therapeutic resources for women coming out of prison or through the court system who had been convicted of sexual abuse. Based on my experience with adult male sexual offenders and Ruth Mathews’ experience with adolescent male sexual offenders, we were asked to develop a treatment program for these women. Funding via a 2-year start-up grant from the General Mills Foundation had been secured.
