Abstract
Campylobacter jejuni, a Gram-negative, microaerophilic, spiral-shaped bacterium, is a causative agent of acute gastrointestinal disease in humans (Blaser et al., 1983). Despite the recognition of C. jejuni as a common cause of gastrointestinal disease, the pathogenic mechanisms associated with C. jejuni-enteritis are ill-defined. The ability of C. jejuni to bind to eukaryotic cells has been proposed to be mediated by outer membrane proteins which range in molecular masses from 28 to 32 kDa (Pei et al., 1991).
