Abstract
The surprising and dramatic changes in the epidemiology of the rheumatic fever and in the incidence and clinical features of invasive Streptococcus pyogenes infections are requiring a permanent supervision of these bacteria1, 3. Real morbidity and the post-streptococcal non-supurative complications are quite difficult to evaluate due to their clinical polymorphism and numerous subclinical infections, hardly traced and therefore unrecorded2, 4. The aim of our study was to determine the presence of the β-haemolytic streptococci in acute pharyngitis cases and the carriers in some open and closed children’s communities.
