Abstract
Although Streptococcus pyogenes is the bacteria most frequently involved in acute pharyngitis, other ß-haemolytic streptococci (BHS) are associated to this pathology and eventually to its complications. Apart S. pyogenes, group C and G streptococci can cause suppurative complications. It has also been described cases of poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis for these agents. Our goal was to determine frequency and features of BHS of throat swabs in 0–16 years children with pharyngitis and its seasonal variations in Buenos Aires.
