Struggle for Synthesis of the Neuron Theory

  • Marcus Jacobson
Chapter

Abstract

The neuron theory is the most inclusive theory that has yet been constructed in neuroscience. The mode of its construction, historically and conceptually, can be understood in terms of a realist conception of the history and philosophy of neuroscience that I have laid open in previous chapters. I might emphasize that I have not attempted to find laws of historical development that can be used to explain the past or predict the future of neuroscience.
