Anatomy of the Ovaries

  • C. R. Kannan

The ovaries are almond-shaped structures located in the pelvis and measure 2.5 cm in their longest diameter. The ovary is secured in position by several ligaments—the suspensory ligament that connects the ovary to the pelvic wall, the uteroovarian ligament that connects it to the uterus, and the mesovarium, which connects the ovary to the posterior surface of the broad ligament of the uterus.
