Abstract
This chapter has four objectives: first, to provide an overview of gestalt psychology’s stand against elementalism; second, to consider the meaning and implications of the gestaltist model of the brain’s structure and function; third, to comment on the evidence offered for and against the existence of insight-thinking and representational processes in humans and apes; fourth, to survey the highlights of gestalt psychology’s influence upon educational theory, personality theory, and social psychology.
