Abstract

Substantial data have been collected concerning the incidence of IDDM in different countries and ethnic groups, showing large geographic variability. The incidence of IDDM is highest in Finland, 42.9 new cases per 100,000 children under 15 years of age per year,1 whereas the lowest rates are in Far East countries, less than 1/100,000per year in Japan and Korea.2
