Abstract
In this chapter, we apply the metamodeling approach to the identification and diagnosis of system failures. The chapter is based on the author’s previous work.1,2 In the spirit of the present text, reducing the possibility of system failures requires effort at three system levels. Failures in systems are actual, concrete events which occur at the implementation level of systems. In all probability, some of the failures occurring at this level can be attributed to difficulties in properly carrying out operating procedures.
