Abstract
The growing number of engineering plastics and polymer blends as well as the increasing efficiency of modern compounding units make an on-line characterization of the resulting polymer quality necessary, whereby the trend is directed towards sensor systems fixed to processing units. This continuous characterization of the material is a point of considerable progress when compared with discontinuous sample analysis in the laboratory because of the delay-time intervals hereby involved. At the same time, a complete documentation of product quality is possible, which becomes essential under product liability aspects.
