Abstract

According to the foregoing discussion, the concept system yields a cognitively constructed image of a bounded object that consists of an organized set of active parts that function together according to a “built-in” pattern of operation. Each system, from this perspective, is set apart from other objects by a boundary that is conceptualized as enclosing its parts. This allows an observer to think of a system’s parts as functioning together according to the total system’s internal mechanism.
