Moral, Medical, and Financial Issues
A number of medical, economic, and moral issues involved in the health-care system have been considered. Some of the major proposals for health-care reform that were presented during 1993–1994 were discussed in Chapters 10 and 12, and it was argued that the McDermott-Wellstone single-payer proposal best meets the needs of the country. Unfortunately, a great deal of energy and rhetoric has been devoted to obscure the facts and issues through negative and misleading advertising, political posturing, and slogan-mongering. In this chapter, an attempt will be made to reduce the confusion to focus on the major moral, medical, and financial issues.
