Asynchronous Mac Protocol for Wireless DS-CDMA Network Carrying Multirate Traffic

In this article, we will show our design of an asynchronous Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol for wireless cellular direct-sequence code-division multiple access (DS-CDMA) network. The asynchronous protocol, unlike its synchronous counterpart,1 does not require the mutual synchronization of users in packet transmission. The result is a less complex system design. However, the analysis is significantly more complex than the synchronous case.
