Faculty and staff at the Illinois Staff Training Institute have engaged more than 75 teams in interactive staff training (IST) during the past 6 years. Our goal during this time has been to help line-level teams develop user-friendly rehabilitation programs. While conducting IST, we have stated again and again that we were not invested in any one approach to a rehabilitation goal. This is why we provide a menu of rehabilitation options from which the program committee selects one to focus development efforts. Our only purpose was to help set up program committees who could be critical about their current program, assume responsibility for developing interventions that meet perceived limitations in their program, and continuously evaluate the quality of these newly developed programs.
