Metallothioneins (MTs) are a group of low molecular weight and cysteine-rich intracellular proteins involved in metal homeostasis and detoxication.1 Immunohistochemical expression of MT have been observed in certain normal tissues1,2 and tumors with more aggressive clinical course and poor outcome.1,3,4 MT expression in thymomas was studied to see if it can be used as a marker of the invasive potential of the thymomas.
