Abstract
A bubble plot is an internal boundary–free matrix of (optionally) color-filled circles for the response variable, which is called the SIZE variable. The values of the X and Y variables provide the column labels and row labels for the matrix. X and Y are variables with discrete values, and the bubble plot is an excellent alternative to a bar chart for two categorical variables, where commonly used alternatives are a stacked bar chart and a clustered bar chart. By color-coding the bubbles and using a legend, it is possible to visually present a second response variable on the bubble plot.
