Abstract
The guidelines discussed in this chapter will apply not only to graphs, plots, and charts but also to tabular reports, spreadsheets, web pages, maps, and text. One of the commonest visual communication design problems I see is the misuse of color. This chapter can help you to avoid that. All of the guidelines are intended to help you accomplish this simply stated goal: use color to communicate, not to decorate.
