Distributions, Histograms, Box Plots, and Alternative Tools

Abstract

Distributions of a response variable can be created with ODS Graphics PROC SGPLOT and PROC SGPANEL, using HISTOGRAM, HBOX, VBOX, and DENSITY statements. This chapter also shows several ways to do that, and to do it more informatively, with NEEDLE, SERIES, SCATTER, and FRINGE statements. Besides the obvious use of those statements, this chapter relies on several macros, which use NEEDLE, SERIES, and SCATTER statements “under the covers” to create solutions that are otherwise unavailable from ODS Graphics. In addition, the PDF function and SERIES statement are used to create a Normal Distribution.
