Abstract

Medical image analysis has evolved dramatically over the last three decades. Initially the analysis in this area was seen as applying pattern recognition and actuarial computer vision methodologies, but with the wide-scale use of advanced image processing and deep learning-based methodologies, the field has evolved quickly not just in terms of algorithmic advancements but also in terms of handling a wide variety of data as different modalities have emerged during this time-frame.
