Abstract
This chapter discusses what information to look for when troubleshooting SQL Server performance problems, both examining real-time data and collecting information for later analysis. Performance information in SQL Server is exposed in several ways, and different tools are usually used to either see or collect that data. One of the new and very promising tools, the Query Store, was fully explained in Chapter 6. I am sure the Query Store will become the main tool for query performance troubleshooting for SQL Server 2016 and above. In addition to query performance, there are many performance areas that do not fall into the query troubleshooting category.
