Abstract

With a name like Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, it can be tempting to write these off as not applicable to mobile. The name, however, is a function of the era the guidelines were authored throughout the 1990s and 2000s, with the last major update coming in 2008, a time before mobile enjoyed the ubiquity it does today. This is combined with the fact that the initiative comes from the World Wide Web Consortium. The name is also somewhat of a mouthful, so we’ll stick with the common acronym of WCAG.
