Notes
- 1.
This is a made-up phrase not used outside this book, but it makes sense and is useful in this chapter.
- 2.
To drive a car from one place to another, we don’t need to know much about how the engine works. Similarly we are learning how to use IoT in data science, not how to be an IoT developer or engineer. This book avoids technical details that do not contribute to our data science journey, and this most definitely includes Internet data transfer protocols.
- 3.
A more technically correct way of saying this using the terminology introduced in Section 6.3 would be: “we have set our sights on making the micro:bit an IoT edge device by connecting it to a gateway, which we will use to send data to a cloud based service.”
