Abstract

The “Smart” part of Smart Cities depends crucially on intelligence in the solutions. Cities have used technology for centuries, but what makes a smart city is the use of intelligent solutions. This is where the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) comes into play. AI provides some unique opportunities but also a number of challenges. Nevertheless, getting the intelligence right is a key objective for smart cities.
