Abstract
One of the downsides of your HT is its limited geographic reach, even with accompanying repeaters. Believe it or not, it’s actually possible to reach individuals thousands of miles away utilizing your HT and a more advanced antenna. This setup is shown in Figure 9-1. The only caveat here is that you’ll be relaying your communications directly through an amateur radio satellite. Until you set up your own amateur radio shack with a fixed antenna, communications through a satellite will likely be your only means of cross-continental communications.
