Abstract
By now, you’ve read the terms “AM” and “FM” numerous times throughout this text. AM and FM are two common examples of how information is encoded and transmitted using radio waves. As you’ll discover, most information cannot be transmitted directly via radio waves. One needs to change the information to make it more suitable for transmission over the air. In this chapter, we’ll dive further into common encoding techniques and some of the details behind how modulation and communications systems work.
